Module 3 of 5

First 10 Clients

Hook

Marketing works when you do it. Not when you plan it, think about it, or perfect it. Right now, you have everything you need to reach potential clients. Use it.

What to Do

Option 1: Nextdoor Messages Go to nextdoor.com. Find 10 "recommendation request" posts asking for your service (or something similar). Send each person a direct message. DM Template:
Hi [Name]! I saw your post looking for [service]. I'm a [service provider] right here in [neighborhood] and I'd love to help! I just launched my business and I'm offering [discount/bonus] for new clients. Would you like me to send over a quick quote? [Your name] [Phone number]
Option 2: Facebook Group Comments Join 3 local Facebook groups. Find posts where people ask for recommendations or advice related to your service. Leave a helpful comment + offer. Comment Template:
Hey [Name]! For [specific problem], I'd recommend [genuine helpful advice]. If you end up needing [your service], I'm actually a [your role] right here in [area]. Happy to give you a free quote or just answer questions. Feel free to DM me!
Option 3: Text 10 People You Know Send this text to 10 friends, family, or acquaintances:
Hey [Name]! Quick update: I just started a [service] business. If you or anyone you know needs [service], I'd love to help! And if you have a sec, I'd really appreciate it if you'd share my name with anyone who might need me. Thanks!

Action Item

Pick one option above. Do it right now. Send 10 messages before you do anything else. Track your results in a simple note:

Lesson 3.7: The Referral Engine

Format: 📖 Reading | Duration: 10 min

Hook

The best clients come from existing happy clients. A referral is worth 5x a cold lead because trust is already established.

Concept

When to Ask for Referrals: How to Ask: In Person (Best):
"I'm so glad you're happy with the work! I'm trying to grow my business and I'd love to serve more people like you. Do you know anyone else who might need [service]?"
Via Text/Email:
"[Name], thanks again for trusting me with your [service]! I'm looking to help more neighbors in [area]. If you know anyone who might need [service], I'd really appreciate you passing my name along. I love referrals because they usually mean I get to work with great people like you!"
With an Incentive:
"For every friend you refer who books with me, I'll give you $[amount] off your next service. Just have them mention your name!"
Incentive Ideas: Track Your Referrals: Keep a simple list:
